Feeding Frenzy
On Monday 29th April last, John Coates, fiddler, Swaledale, undertook for a wager of five shillings, to eat 2 lb of reasty bacon, 1 lb of cheese and 1 lb of butter, 18 eggs fried along with the bacon, 3 lb of brown bread, to sup one quart of milk, and drink one gallon of ale, all which he accomplished in half an hour, to the great astonishment of numerous spectators at the house of Mr William Neesham, Arkindale.

New Community Building for Reeth
Yesterday at a meeting of the Conservatives held at the Buck Hotel, Reeth, the tender of Mr John Dougill of Aysgarth, for the erection of rooms for the Reeth Conservative Club was accepted. The building is to be of stone, of one storey, and to consist of three rooms, 18ft by 24 ft, each, which, by moveable partitions can be thrown into one large room for public meetings, dances, concerts etc with the usual offices. one room is for reading, another for games and a third for billiards.

Dangerous Driving in the Dale
Mr A B Hudson, solicitor of Reeth and Richmond, was driving his motor car near Grinton in Swaledale a few days ago, when he came into collision with a trap, driven by Mr Jackson. Mr Feetham, butcher, who resides outside Darlington, was rather seriously injured. |
